Please
read and acknowledge the following before performing a
referral search.
Looking
for a Certified Family Child Care Provider? We can help!
To
find a certified Family Child Care Provider near your
home or work simply click on the map for the area in which
you are interested in searching for child care. You will
be given the name, phone number, city/town and email address
of the Family Child Care Homes of Rhode Island, Inc. member
who provides care in your area. We provide
an objective information listing service only.
No
claims are made as to the suitability of any child care
provider for whom referrals are made; these are referrals,
NOT RECOMMENDATIONS.
The
Family Child Care Homes of Rhode Island Association does
not endorse or recommend any child care providers and
we strongly advise that you interview several Family Child
Care Providers before selecting the one that is right
for your family.
The
following are some questions you may want to ask during
your interview process:
- Ask to
see the Provider’s License, CPR and First Aid
cards. Does the Provider have any other certificates
or awards that might be important?
- What
training, education and experience does the Provider
have? Does the Provider participate in continuing
education? If so, what kind?
- What
method of guidance or discipline does the Provider
use?
- What
is an average day like for the children?
- Ask for
a list of families (past and present) that you can
contact for recommendations.
- Most
of all, observe the environment and the children in
care.
You also have the right and responsibility to review each
Certified Provider’s licensing history. Call the
Department of Children Youth and Families at (401) 528-3502.
