Using the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards to Support Children's Learning (5 sessions)

We invite you to participate in a professional development opportunity offered through the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards Project. Our five-session training, Using the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards to Support Children's Learning , provides a wonderful foundation for family child care providers in using the standards to improve the quality of your early childhood practice with preschool age children.

Working with one of our experienced trainers, you will:

  • Learn about the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards
  • Create activities that help children learn skills associated with school success
  • Find new ways to encourage families to help children learn using Fun Family Activities for Pre-Schoolers

Participants will be expected to attend all five sessions of the training, participate in group activities, and complete take home assignments following each session. Sessions will be scheduled in the evening twice each month for three hours.

Upon successful completion of the 5-session, 15 hour training, participants will not only earn 15 professional development hours, but will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Departments of Education and Human Services.

Most importantly, participants will come away with new knowledge and skills to help preschool children enter school ready to succeed.

We are currently accepting registrations for training sessions in both English and Spanish that will begin in January 2006. In addition, there are still a number of openings in our group that is scheduled to begin on September 28 at Providence Ready to Learn. The September 28 group will be taught in English and you will need to enroll by September 19, 2005 .

If you have any questions, please contact Karen Pucciarelli at the RI Department of Education, # 222-8955.
